Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) has reached a significant milestone in financial excellence, becoming the only public college in Oregon to receive the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) prestigious Triple Crown Award. This accolade is earned by organizations that receive all three of GFOA’s top honors: the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award, and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.
On Sept. 11, MHCC was recognized with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget document for the fiscal year beginning July 1. In addition, the college received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting on Aug. 16 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023. Together with the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award, these achievements complete the Triple Crown Award — an honor granted to only a select number of government entities across the nation.
“Receiving the GFOA’s Triple Crown Award underscores our unwavering commitment to financial stewardship and transparency,” said MHCC President Dr. Lisa Skari. “To be the only public college in Oregon to receive this recognition speaks volumes about the dedication and expertise of our finance team. It’s a testament to how we manage resources to support student success and foster growth in our community.”
The GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program in 1984 to promote the highest standards in government budgeting. To earn the award, MHCC’s budget document was evaluated for its quality as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communication tool.
