Remembering Ray Glenn: A Life of Ingenuity, Friendship, and Mountain Spirit

May 4, 2025
Ray Glenn smiles beneath a blue sky, wearing round sunglasses and braided hair, remembered by the Mt. Hood community as a master craftsman and beloved friend.

Ray Glenn

Our mountain community lost a good one. On April 3, 2025, Ray Glenn passed away, gliding into eternity with his steadfast faith guiding his path. He died in peace, on his terms and God’s time. Ray remained the gentle, humble, determined, mastermind of his life until his last breath.

Ray traveled the world and lived in several beautiful places, but called this mountain his home.

Many knew home as the “MacGyver of the Mountain,” able to design, create, fix, build, troubleshoot and accomplish the impossible.

His infamous red Hummer was undoubtedly the flashiest facet of his remarkably diverse personality. He was fiercely confident in his opinions, deeply reflective of his life’s purpose, and enormously competent in his vast and varied skill set.

When his body limited his physical abilities, he refocused his energy into building model wooden ships of museum quality, recognized and revered by the global community of ship builders.

Ray knew the value of loving his friends and was grateful for their love in return. He took neither for granted.

On Monday, May 12, 2025, at 4 p.m., there will be an informal gathering at the Skyway to share our love of him, together, for just a bit.

Ray, “May your ship sail into peaceful waters and a strong wind fill your sails.”
