July is Exciting at the Hoodland Senior Center!
By Brittany Kintigh For The Mountain Times

The Hoodland Senior Center (HSC) has fun outings planned this July, offering local seniors opportunities to enjoy the summer season, explore nearby attractions, and connect with one another. From local parades to casino fun and shopping excursions, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Each month, HSC provides free transportation for two grocery shopping trips. Trips take place the first and third Tuesdays of the month. The bus loads up at the senior center for a trip to Sandy Fred Meyer on Tuesday, July 2. Later in the month, a trip to Winco in Gresham is scheduled for Tuesday, July 16. For both trips, the center’s bus will depart at 9:00 a.m., so shoppers are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early.

For those interested in summer social events, two outings are planned for July. First, on Thursday, July 4, the Senior Center is heading to Estacada to celebrate Independence Day at the town’s Fourth of July Parade. This festive outing offers seniors a chance to enjoy the community spirit, music, and colorful floats that make this event a local favorite. The bus will leave the center at 9:00 a.m., and a $5 transportation donation is suggested.

Mid-month, on Sunday, July 14, the group will take a ride to Warm Springs to visit Indian Head Casino. Whether you’re feeling lucky or simply looking to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and dining options, this trip promises a fun-filled day. The bus departs at 9:00 a.m., and a $7 transportation donation is suggested.

Finally, space is limited for each trip, and advance registration is required. Seniors interested in joining any of the outings are encouraged to call the Hoodland Senior Center at 503-622-3331 to reserve their spot.

These activities are part of the center’s ongoing mission to develop and maintain active senior programs in the Hoodland area that provide opportunities and create an atmosphere that encourages seniors to use their skills, develop their potential, and continue their involvement in the community. Whether you’re looking to socialize, explore, or simply enjoy a day out, July is shaping up to be a lively and engaging month at Hoodland Senior Center!
