On June 26, the 21st annual Hoodland Women’s Club Benefit Golf Tournament teed off at Mt. Hood Oregon Resort’s stunning Three Nines Golf Course, locally known as “The Nines.” The tournament is one of the many ways the Hoodland Women’s Club continues to support the Mt. Hood Community more than 60 years after it was founded.

In 2025, the Hoodland Women’s Club was able to set up 5 scholarships for Hoodland residents. Each is worth $2500. Three of the five scholarships are being sponsored by individual Diamond-Level tournament sponsors: Kim Anzarut, founder and CEO of Allay Consulting, Adriane Bovero, owner and broker of All County Real Estate, and one donor who wished to remain anonymous.

Those three generous women aren’t the only ones doing heavy lifting with their donations. This year’s tournament attracted dozens of sponsors who were excited to support the education of mountain residents. What’s more, 25 teams of four have joined the scramble tournament. As of this writing, Women’s Club Vice President Nichole Watts confirmed that more than $19,000 has been raised to support the event.

Four of the scholarships are awarded to high school seniors residing in the Hoodland area and are granted based on a combination of financial need and academic merit. “There’s a whole committee that spends a lot of time deliberating on this,” says Watts.

This year has delivered an unexpected (and welcome) surprise. Over the last year, the Hoodland Women’s Club has generated enough money to offer a fifth scholarship. This one is going to an adult searching for higher education.

As current President Bri Dittlinger explains, “Our fifth scholarship is our brand new continuing education scholarship for an adult in the Hoodland community. We’re really excited to support a local in the area who wants to attend a trade school for a CE, professional license, or community college classes. Whatever they need, we’re here for it.”

The application to apply for the adult education scholarship is August 30. So, if you’re a Hoodland resident with an eye on improving your education, now is the time to start checking out scholarship requirements!

The annual golf tournament is a highlight of the Hoodland Women’s Club’s calendar, but it’s far from the only role the group plays. The club has made public service a cornerstone of its existence. So far this year, the HWC has donated more than 2,000 hours of volunteer time. Later this year, there’s also the first annual Harvest of Hope gala that will support the HWC’s Community Fund, which is used to support local outreach projects.

“We’ve donated over $20,000 back to the Hoodland community, not including all the money that goes to scholarships. That’s just in community giving funds – this is a phenomenal organization. We want the community to know about us. We want them to be a part of it.”
