SANDY, OR – Sandy Actors Theatre (SAT) regrets to announce the cancellation of its scheduled production of Nunsense, which was scheduled to open on April 25 for a four-week run. Due to unforeseen circumstances including cast illnesses and technical difficulties, the production will not move forward as planned. SAT extends sincere apologies to its patrons, volunteers, and supporters for this disappointment and thanks the community for its ongoing understanding and encouragement.
Despite this setback, SAT is excited to turn its spotlight toward the future with the announcement of its 2025 Summer Youth Program — an engaging, two-week theatre workshop for students ages 10–18.
Running June 16 – June 27, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the program will be held at the Sandy Actors Theatre, located at 17433 SE Meinig Ave. (behind Ace Hardware). Students will explore the fundamentals of theater through interactive games, exercises, and scene work, while receiving instruction in acting, singing, and dancing. The program will culminate in a showcase of student work.
The registration fee is $125, which includes a commemorative program T-shirt. Five $50 scholarships are available for qualifying students. To register, please contact:

In addition to the youth program, SAT is proud to offer a FREE one-day class for aspiring stage managers, led by nationally recognized stage manager Linda Apperson, a Portland-based artist whose impressive resume includes teaching at Stanford University and managing hundreds of productions worldwide. Her experience spans from local theatres to prestigious venues such as Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and international festivals in London and Beijing.
The class will be held at SAT on Saturday, June 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a lunch break from 12:30 to 1:30. Attendees must bring paper and pen for note-taking. Guest speakers from institutions such as Lewis & Clark College and other global arts organizations will offer valuable insight into the world of stage management.
SAT is thrilled to offer these educational opportunities as part of its ongoing mission to nurture creativity, build confidence, and cultivate a love of theatre in our community.
