Dr. Lyon’s Health Tips
By Dr. Lyon, for The Mountain Times
At Orchid Health Hoodland, our mission is to offer whole-person care that goes beyond the traditional healthcare model. Through integrative care, we aim to support your physical, mental, and emotional health — all in one place. We’re excited to introduce two incredible team members who are leading the way in this approach at our Hoodland clinic: Ryan Ellsworth, LCSW, CADC, and Julie Lazar, our Community Health Worker.
What Is Integrative Care?
Integrative care is a collaborative approach to health that combines traditional medical services with behavioral health support, care coordination, and connections to community resources. It’s about treating the whole person, not just symptoms. Whether you’re managing a chronic condition, experiencing stress, or just want to feel your best, integrative care provides a personalized, compassionate approach that meets you where you are.
Meet Ryan Ellsworth, LCSW, CADC
With 28 years of experience in addiction recovery and mental health, Ryan Ellsworth brings deep expertise and a warm, grounded presence to the Hoodland community. A Portland native, Ryan began his career in youth and family counseling and went on to support incarcerated individuals in both residential treatment programs and hospital settings. His work has always centered around trauma-informed care and the power of human connection in healing.
Ryan provides behavioral health support and addiction counseling as part of our integrative care team. He’s also a national trainer for medical professionals working to improve addiction care in hospital environments.
Outside of work, Ryan practices mindfulness, enjoys time outdoors, and explores creative ways to promote wellness for himself and others.
Meet Julie Lazar, Community Health Worker
Julie Lazar brings heart, experience, and a deep sense of community connection to her role as a Community Health Worker. Originally from Northern California, Julie moved to the mountain with her family four years ago and quickly became a pillar of support in the Hoodland area.
With a background in business management and nearly two decades in operations, Julie also brings 13 years of hands-on healthcare experience in chiropractic, optometry, dentistry, and podiatry. She uses this diverse experience to help patients navigate care, build trusting relationships, and connect people to the resources they need to thrive.
Julie is passionate about being present — whether that means helping someone find food support, scheduling follow-up care, or simply offering a listening ear. She also enjoys reading everything from historical fiction to detective novels, exploring the outdoors with her husband and two dogs, and taking on DIY projects around the house.
